The Founders Fellowship

Impact 100 NYC created the Founders Fellowship to encourage and enable young women of diverse backgrounds and lived experiences to become involved in philanthropy and to bring vital perspectives to our organization, membership and partners.

Available to women from the five boroughs, under the age of 35, and interested in addressing the vital needs of our community. Each fellowship opens a door to experiencing the power of collective giving and understanding the social issues that affect New York City.

Preference will be given to women for whom the individual membership donation of $1000 might pose a hardship. The Founders Fellowship provides a three-year path to membership, beginning with a one-year commitment, in which the fellow’s membership is covered 100% by Impact 100 NYC. In Year two, fellows make a $250 contribution and in Year Three a $450 contribution, with the balances covered by Impact 100 NYC.

The 2022-23 Founders Fellowship application is open now through August 15, 2022.

The Fellow will be selected by September 1st, 2022 and will participate in the grant review and selection process, the core initiative of Impact 100 NYC, beginning in January, 2023.

Criteria for Founders Fellowship. Applicants must:

Be women under the age of 35 who have demonstrated a commitment to improving lives in their communities through work, volunteerism, or study.
Must complete and submit the Founders Fellowship application and include a current resume.
Must be available for an interview with Impact 100 NYC Founders Fellowship Committee members.
Must reside in one of NYC’s five boroughs: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, or Staten Island.

Responsibilities of 2022 - 23 Inaugural Founders Fellows:

Total Time Commitment for Year One Fellowship Cycle, approximately 20-25 hours per year

Attend orientation meeting, October 2022 (1 hour)
Attend monthly Founders Fellowship Committee Meeting(s) (2-3 hours)
Participate in the 2023 grantmaking process by serving on a Grant Review Committee (GRC). (Typically,12-16 hours from February – June)

Tentative schedule:

Grant Review Orientation via Zoom – February 2023, (1 hour)
On your own, read 10 – 12 grant proposals (4-5 hours)
First Grant Review Team meeting –February/March 2023 (2-3 hours) Location TBD; evening and daytime options available
Nonprofit Applicant Site Visits (should try to attend one) – varying times and days, sometime between March 2023 - April 2023. (2 – 3 hours)
Second Grant Review Team meeting – April/ May 2023; Location TBD evening and daytime options available. (2 -3 hours)
Annual Meeting – May 2023 (Approx. 1 hour)
Attend Impact 100 NYC Membership Kick-off, Fall 2022 TBD (2 hours)

Attend Fellowship Year-End meeting: Early June 2023 (1-2 hours)
Participate in interview process of 2024 Fellows (2 hours)
